Evaluation of Your Case

Burdine & Brown April 30, 2020

I am sure you have heard of the statement made by those of us who hate “big” anything:” I don't want to be treated like a number. Treat me like a real person.” Well, here is the bad news. There is a legal claims software program that almost is all the insurance companies are using to evaluate your case. If you can prove that you have certain elements to your case (permanent impairment, loss of wages, work under duress, loss of range of motion, surgery) your claim has a higher value. The program is called Colossus and it is used by Allied, Nationwide, Allstate, Ecompanies, E-surance, American National, Atlantic Mutual, Fireman's Fund, Grange Mutual, Great American, Hanover, Ohio Casualty, State Auto, The Hartford, Travelers, Aetna, USAA, Wasau, Zurich and more.

If you ask an adjuster if their company uses Colossus, they will outright lie to you. No company admits to using Colossus. There are 60 factors, or at least this number in late 2019 and in early 2020, to determine the value of your case. And, most importantly, the Colossus program always, always, evaluates your case 20% below its true value. While I cannot force the insurance companies to abandon the Colossus program, I can point to a number of different factors in your case to increase your case's value. See my FAQ's on these 2 topics: “Permanent Impairment” and “What is the Value of my Automobile Accident Case?”
